Does it bother you that your pants or dresses tend to sag around your buttocks? Has gravity dragged your behind down so it does not appear as perky as it did when you were younger? If you answered yes to either one of these questions, or you simply want a more shapely appearance, then a Brazilian Butt Lift may be the right solution for you*.

Dr. Seare specializes in performing awake anesthesia plastic surgery, which minimizes cost and recovery, while still maintaining optimal patient comfort. Contact one of his two convenient locations in San Diego or Carlsbad in order to request a consultation.

About Brazilian Butt Lift

The Brazilian Butt Lift is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures in the world today. This can be attributed to, in part, celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Nicki Minaj, and Jennifer Lopez. Whether or not they themselves have had the procedure, women aspire to have a larger behind like them. But, there’s another reason why it’s more than just a passing trend. Simply, the procedure is incredibly effective*. Patients can augment their buttocks for both a natural look and feel, whether their buttocks is naturally flat or if they want to increase the size even more*. Plus, it gives women the opportunity to enhance their feminine hourglass figure through liposuction*.

The Brazilian Butt Lift, a colloquial name for a buttock augmentation, is an autologous fat transfer procedure. This refers to a procedure where fat is taken from one area of the body and then transferred to another part of the body. Dr. Seare also performs this procedure to augment the breasts and facial features.

Brazilian Butt Lift vs Implants

Before the rise of the Brazilian Butt Lift procedure, implants were the preferred method of buttocks augmentation. Butt implants, also called gluteal implants, add volume to the buttocks similarly to breast implants*. There are a variety of different implants to choose from, including round or oval and anatomically similar or great projection. The majority of butt implants are solid silicone, because they have the least chance of rupturing when pressure is applied.

Many surgical centers, including Clinique Sculpture, rarely perform buttocks augmentation with implants. Assuming that the patient has enough fat on their body to perform a Brazilian Butt Lift, the procedure and maintenance is much safer than implants*. Some of the benefits of Brazilian Butt Lift over implants include:

  • Much more natural look and feel
  • No risk of allergic or adverse reaction to synthetic material
  • No risk of rupturing of capsular contracture
  • Long lasting results, no need for revision surgery if there is a problem with the implants
  • Added benefit of additionally contouring the body with liposuction in a single procedure

Some of the other benefits of a Brazilian Butt Lift may include:

  • Improved proportion of the body
  • Enhanced shape and contour of the buttocks
  • Promotes self-confidence

Good Candidates

good candidates

Good candidates for a Brazilian Butt Lift may be patients interested in augmenting their buttocks, while giving it the appearance of a perky lift*. They’re likely interested in augmentation with fat transfer because they desire a more natural, not to mention safer, procedure than implants*.

Nonetheless, not everybody will be a good candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift. Patients should not be too thin or overweight. A successful Brazilian Butt Lift requires that the patient have adequate fat on their body to use for transfer. However, if the patient is overweight, then this poses increased risks for surgery. The patient should be at or close to their goal weight, because significant weight fluctuations could negatively affect the outcome of surgery.

Some common areas where patients may have excess fat suitable for liposuction include:

  • Upper arms
  • Back
  • Abdomen
  • Flanks (love handles)
  • Inner and outer thighs

Finally, patients must be able to heal well after a surgical procedure, be in good overall health, and not be allergic to anesthesia. They should also be nonsmokers or willing to quit prior to the surgery date and throughout recovery. Smoking can have severe negative implications on surgery and recovery.

Please inform Dr. Seare of any allergies, medications or supplements they take, illnesses, or prior surgeries. These are all important factors in ensuring a safe and positive outcome for the patient.

Consultation

Dr. Seare specializes in plastic surgery with awake anesthesia. He understands that this may be scary to some patients. However, he assures patients that this is the safest way to perform plastic surgery. Not only does it reduce risks during surgery, but it also reduces recovery time*. Dr. Seare likes to meet with patients in order to discuss in depth why awake anesthesia is the best method and why his years of experience mean that they will be in trusted hands.

Furthermore, the consultation is an important time for Dr. Seare and the patient to communicate about what can realistically be achieved with a Brazilian Butt Lift. Depending on the patient’s physiology, they may not be able to augment their buttocks as much as they would like. However, Dr. Seare will give his expert opinion on where liposuction can be performed to give the appearance of a larger buttocks*.

Additional Procedures

Depending on the patient’s desired results, Dr. Seare may recommend additional procedures. Some of the most common procedures performed with a Brazilian Butt Lift include a tummy tuck and a breast augmentation.

Tummy Tuck

Liposuction will be able to remove excess fat from the abdomen and flanks. However, it will not be able to correct the appearance of excess skin on the abdomen. Patients may have excess skin due to pregnancy or weight loss. In order to combat the appearance of excess skin, patients will need to undergo a tummy tuck because loose skin cannot be tightened through exercise. A tummy tuck uses an incision along the bikini line that can be easily hidden with underwear or a swimsuit. Then, the abdominal muscles are sutured together to create a more defined midsection*. Finally, excess skin is removed and the incisions are sutured.

At Clinique Sculpture, we offer full tummy tucks, extended tummy tucks, and mini tummy tucks. We also offer Around The World Lipo, or circumferential Micro Liposuction, pioneered by Dr. Seare himself. The best technique for the patient will depend on their individual case. Dr. Seare will be able to make the best recommendation at the time of the consultation.

Breast Augmentation

Breast Augmentation

After undergoing a Brazilian Butt Lift, some patients may feel that their breasts appear too small or are not in proportion with their body. In order to address this concern, Dr. Seare can perform breast augmentation. At Clinique Sculpture, breast augmentation can either be performed with implants or as a fat transfer procedure. The best option for the patient will depend on their physiology and their desired results.

Patients with limited excess fat on their body or patients interested in augmenting their breasts by more than two cup sizes will be better suited for implants. In some cases, a breast augmentation may be able to be performed at the same time as the Brazilian Butt Lift.

Procedure

A Brazilian Butt Lift uses the patient’s own fat tissue to sculpt and firm the buttocks to give it a tighter, firmer, and shapelier appearance*. During this procedure, Dr. Seare uses Micro Liposuction to harvest excess fat from the body. After he purifies the fat cells, he then injects them into the buttocks to lift them and add volume, so they appear more prominent*. To finish the procedure, Dr. Seare removes excess skin from the upper buttock regions and then he tightens the remaining tissue.

Dr. Seare will go over the procedure in more details at the time of the consultation.

Recovery

Although a Brazilian Butt Lift is a very straightforward and minimally invasive procedure, the recovery is significant. However, since Dr. Seare uses awake anesthesia, this will reduce some of the recovery period and allow patients to return to work faster*.

Breast Augmentation

Patients can typically return to work following a Brazilian Butt Lift in about one to two weeks*. However, they should not put direct pressure on their buttocks – this means no sitting down or sleeping on their back – for up to six weeks. This is to make sure that there is constant blood circulation to the buttocks, ensuring maximum fat cell survival and optimal results*.

In order to sit down while working, patients can purchase a specialized pillow that removes the burden of weight from their buttocks. Nonetheless, they need to be sure to stand up every one to two hours and walk around in order to promote blood circulation. Patients will be fully healed in two to six months*. However, they will not be able to see their final results for six to twelve months*. This is the amount of time that it will take for the fat cells to take to the new area. The results from a Brazilian Butt Lift are long-lasting*.
